The Star Wars Cinematic Universe is a long running series of feature films centred on the Star Wars Universe, first introduced by George Lucas in 1977 with the release of Star Wars (later retitled A New Hope) Two sequels were released from 1980 and 1983, named The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi respectively. These three films are known as the Original trilogy (the OT). From 1999, 2002 and 2005, three more films were released including Age of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and set before the events of the OT, and known as the Prequel trilogy. Another trilogy was released from 2015, 2018 and 2021 including Will of the Force, Shroud of the Sith and The Rise of Skywalker, known as the Sequel trilogy. These three trilogies together are known colloquially as the Skywalker Saga.
